CRE brokerage white paper: boutique brokerage

Lots of theory, chatter and noise about the positive and negative impacts of PropTech out there. This is a practical example, from the lens of an industry-leading CRE brokerage, unpacking the impact of technology adoption. Shalan Properties (the first in a series) shares its experience with you

CRE brokerage white paper: “hard work pays off”

Gmaven’s commercial real estate (CRE) clients range from the big to the boutique, from brokers to property owners. Business is about relationships, and every business has a story.

A journey against the odds

Shaun Coghlan took a leap of faith 2019, and started his own brokerage. He trusted Gmaven to manage his data and automate his processes.

In the same year, Shaun’s wife fell ill with cancer.

Then, soon after, Covid struck South Africa.

Despite all these setbacks, Shaun, an experienced CRE professional, with a strong grasp of CRE’s complex data, soldiered on – worked steadily and consistently.

Richly-rewarded success

From a small start…

Year on year, Shaun’s growth has averaged a fraction under 800%!”

We’re thrilled to see Shalan Properties winning, and, equally importantly, know that CRE industry tenants and investors are being well serviced.

It’s incredibly fulfilling to play a small part in someone’s deserved success. It feels, quite simply, fair, to see hard work, perseverance and courage rewarded. We look forward to seeing this fine business and others of its ilk growing from strength to strength.

In case you’re wondering, Shaun’s wife made a full recovery too!

Some interesting takeaways:

I am now able to operate in a much larger geographical area and in other sectors like offices and retail because it is easy to populate the system with the relevant data.

On avoiding the painful double work and admin of moving data around:

Gmaven works hand in hand with my website, so I am able to get the stock I want out into the marketplace

A system that will grow with you:

Gmaven is an extremely powerful system and I am constantly finding new features and ways to present my data.

Gmaven’s second and third values are being of service and team – we see ourselves as tech and data partners to our clients…

The great thing about the Gmaven team is that I can always reach out to them to improve the system. Together with all the other users’ input, new features are put in place to solve my needs

Amidst sometimes-despairing news of incompetence and injustice, we hope this story brightened your day and provided inspiration that good can and does prevail.

Thank you and well done to Shaun for the hard-won success.

CRE data: outsourced

Apple, one of the most profitable businesses in the world, is the king of outsourcing. Its brains reside in California, while its grunt work is spread to specialists all over the world.
